Getting Started
Focusing on You
The challenges of the digital age are moving memory institutions, including archives, into new business models, and developing institutional enterprises around digitisation. The rapidly changing technology is facilitating a period of experimentation and evaluation of new models. Digital collections have enormous potential for changing the way that information is used, and for developing new ways of preserving, collecting, organising, propagating and accessing knowledge.
Against this background, the project “European Digital Treasures: Management of Centennial Archives in the 21st century” aims at bringing joint European heritage, and especially its digital versions, major visibility, outreach and use.
The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme, the framework programme of the EU for the cultural and audio-visual sectors.
The objective of this call is the production of a documentary (between 13 and 30 minutes) or animated documentary film (between 3 and 15 minutes), referred to a Production, inspired by one or more of these 60 archival documents related to the Construction of Europe. http://www.treasuresinarchives.com/gallery.
You may choose any one or more of these documents and develop a Production about the story it tells you. The ultimate objective is to develop a production contributing towards the construction of the European identity and the promotion of active citizenship and to bring visual creators closer to the historical roots of Europe, what unites us and our values.
Similar calls are taking place in Hungary, Norway, Portugal, Malta and Spain.
